Chicken Dishes – And How to Make Them

If you’re tired of having the same old chicken recipes night after night, below are three amazingly delicious chicken recipes from all over the world that won’t take more than 30 minutes to have ready to serve up for friends and family. The key to these chicken dishes is to keep them healthy, delicious and colorful.

Shish Taouk Chicken

Some of the healthiest and most creative recipes ever come from the Middle East. Shish Taouk can be served as a sandwich or a dish and is a marvelous way to serve chicken.

Ingredients – You probably have most of these ingredients at home: 4 boneless chicken breasts cut into bite sized pieces, 1 tablespoon olive oil, ½ cup vinegar, 1 tablespoon spice mix, ¼ tsp ground cardamom, ¼ cup vanilla yogurt, 1 tablespoon oil, 5 garlic cloves, salt and pepper.

Instructions – Mix all the above ingredients above (only use ½ of the garlic) and marinade the chicken in this mixture overnight. Heat a pan over medium heat with oil in and toss in the marinated chicken. Cook well on all sides for about 4 minutes. Add the remaining garlic and ½ cup of water. Cook for about 4 more minutes until chicken is done. If you want to use this for sandwiches, slice the chicken a bit smaller and serve it in pita bread with parsley, onion, and tomatoes. If you want to use it as a dish, serve it as it is on a platter with some brown rice and steamed vegetables.

General Tsao’s Chicken from China

This is one dish that will probably become one of your favorites. It’s a colorful and delicious way to serve up some chicken.

Ingredients – 1 pound of boneless chicken breast cut into cube sizes, 1 tablespoon ginger, 1 tablespoon red pepper flakes, 1 stablespoon olive oil, 3 chopped scallions, 2 minced garlic cloves, 4 tablespoons soy sauce, 2 tablespoons vinegar, 3 tablespoons corn starch, 3 tablespoons sugar, 1/1/2 cups of chicken broth.

Instructions – Prepare the sauce first by missing the broth, vinegar, soy sauce, corn starch and sugar and set to the side. Prepare chicken next by heating a pan on medium with oil and add the pepper, garlic and scallions. Cook those for two minutes and add the chicken cooking it for about five more minutes until it is brownish. Add the sauce and simmer until the chicken is cooked and sauce becomes thick which should be about four minutes. Serve up your chicken over white rice. You can serve this with a side of egg drop soup or some egg rolls.

Chicken Parmigiana from Italy

Right from Italy, we find the popular recipe of Chicken Parmigiana. It’s a simple and well loved recipe all over the world.

Ingredients – 4 boneless chicken breasts, ½ cup milk, 1 egg, 3 tablespoons olive oil, bread crumbs, 400 ml spaghetti sauce, 250 g mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, 2 tablespoons Italian herb.

Instructions – Mix together with a whisk the bread crumbs, milk and eggs, and pour over the chicken breasts. Heat oil in pan and add chicken and the mixture. Allow to cook about three minutes, then turn over and cook three minutes. Move the chicken from the pan to an oven dish and add the herbs. Slice some mozzarella chest and top on each breast. Pour the spaghetti sauce over each one and top with more mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes at 350 and serve up with some pasta and a tossed or Caesar salad.
